Now, we’re going to cover a fast and easy way to get your web site customers to buy more. That’s the goal of any site owner and like most good ideas it is actually very simple. 

People visit a site, but what are the chances of them buying? Most don’t buy on the first visit to any site. There is research that says it takes anywhere from three to seven visits before people actually make a purchase. 

So, if most people only go to a site one time and yet they only buy on the third to seventh visit, how are you going to make any money? 

You are going to make money by encouraging them and giving them a reason to visit your site more than once - And you can do that with a simple e-mail campaign. 

Now, we know that doesn’t sound very revolutionary, but most sites never get around to instigating a real formal effective e-mail campaign. You need to give people a reminder to come back to your site and you need to give them a reason to come back to your site. E-mail is the perfect way to do that!

In your e-mail, tell them that there is something new on your site. Tell them there is something free there. You tell them you have a new special offer. You have a piece of news. An answer to a survey. All of these are very good ways to build traffic. 

You can send out e-mail and ask your customers a question that they would all be interested in the answer to and you can later send them an e-mail that says “Hey, the results of this survey are posted on my site. Stop by.” Don’t give the answer in the e-mail. Give them a reason to have to come back to your site. 

Make them a special offer. It doesn’t have to be a discount. Somehow on the Internet people have always gotten the idea that you have to reduce the price in order to build traffic or to get people’s interest. People go where they feel welcome, where they are comfortable, and most of all whether it’s convenient to buy. 

So for the foreseeable future e-mail is probably the greatest marketing tool out there. And, for this reason, it has the ability to transport your buyer to the point of sale. 

Now think about that - that’s what makes it different from all the other media. You can place an ad on television or in the newspaper and you see that ad and you’re interested. So what do you have to do? You have to get in the car, you have to drive to a store, you have to find a place to park, you

have to go in, you have to find the clerk and then you have to ask for the item. And chances are the clerk can’t find it, doesn’t know anything about it, and if they do they don’t have it in the size or color that you need. 

Compare that to a purchase on the Internet in your e-mail reminder. You send them an e-mail. The e-mail tells them about your special offer that interests them. All they have to do is click on the link that you put on the e-mail to go right into your store on your site.

All the information is in front of them so they can make an informed decision. When they decide this is what they want, this is the product they need, fill out the order form and if your product is music, digital, if it’s printed material that they can download, software, they have the product instantly, right there, right then. 

At worst, they are going to get it in two days through the mail. So what have you done? You have eliminated the delay between the saying “I want it” and “I’ve got it”. And we know that the longer that delay, the more likely is the customer will get sidetracked and not place that order. 

Essentially e-mails bring your prospects to your store instantly, and it’s free. That’s right, it doesn’t cost you a cent! So build repeat traffic and more sales with your e-mails.
