If
you're Tom Clancy, John Grisham, or Michael Creighton, they're
going to give you a million dollar push. If you're an unknown
or new author, you're going to get very little or no promotion
money. These "unknown" books die on the vine very quickly.
The bookstores make the matter even worse, because they take in
all the books from the publishers and they toss them up on the
shelf. If they have no promotion, they die there.
Within four, five, or six weeks, the big bookstores, including
Barnes & Noble, Borders, B. Dalton, Walden's, etc. just grab
those books after a month and a half or so and send them right
back to the publishers.
Now, let's go over how you can make money with this. I know of
three publishers and marketers who have already. One was David
Benda. Another is Ted Nicholas. A third one is Ted Thomas. These
clever marketers got in touch with publishers. They found a book
in their interest. For Mr. Benda it was a home business book.
Ted Nicholas got a book on starting in business. Ted Thomas found
books on negotiation and real estate. Your first task is to go
to the acquisition department of these big publishers just as
these men did.
Whether you're looking for a cookbook, a health book, a business
book, or an investment book, you can go to bookstores and look
through the bargain book tables. If you
